SEATTLE – Washington improved to 6-1 on Wednesday night at Alaska Airlines Arena, topping Portland, 83-65. Kelsey Plum scored 29 points, but four Huskies finished in double figures and the Dawgs dominated the glass in a convincing win.

Plum had her best 3-point shooting game of the season, making 6-10 from beyond the arc after struggling from distance most of the young season. Talia Walton added 17, while Chantel Osahor and Deja Strother had 11 each.

Washington caught a hot-shooting team to start the game as the Pilots made 5-9 from 3-point range to take a 23-19 at the end of a quarter. Walton kept the Dawgs close, scoring 12 in the quarter, but the Huskies shot just 7-18 as a team.

Washington came right back to start the second quarter, reeling off a 15-2 run to take the lead for good. Plum got things going, making a couple 3-pointers and finishing the half with a game-leading 13 points. The Huskies also picked things up on the defensive end, holding the Pilots to just six points on 2-17 shooting.

After the break it was all Huskies as Plum took over, scoring 16 points, but the Dawgs also got big contributions in the post. Strother had a career high with 11 points, but also had seven rebounds and two blocks in just 11 minutes of play. Osahor added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Walton had nine rebounds and a career-best five assists. Finally, Katie Collier scored eight points and established a career-best nine rebounds.

The big second-half lead allowed the Huskies to rest some starters in the fourth quarter as Washington has now played six games in the past two weeks.

For the game, the Huskies shot 39.4 percent (28-71), while holding Portland to 32.8 percent (22-67). Both teams finished by making nine 3-pointers, but the Dawgs dominated the glass, outrebounding Portland, 56-32.

Next up for the Huskies will be No. 21 Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The Dawgs host the Sooners is their big non-conference home game that will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks and part of a doubleheader with the Husky men. A ticket to the women's game is good to stay for the men's game and sit in the upper bowl.
