SEATTLE – Washington finished up the non-conference season on a strong note, knocking off Weber State, 69-56. The Dawgs used an incredible 29-0 run early in the game, leaving the outcome never in doubt.

Up big in the first half, Weber State clawed their way back, but never got it back to single digits. Kelsey Plum led the way with 25 points, while Chantel Osahor had her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Weber State jumped to a quick 7-0 lead, but it could not have been more misleading. After the Widcats scored 1:25 into the first quarter, the Dawgs would hold the Weber State scoreless for the next 12 minutes and 42 seconds. Meanwhile, the Huskies got it going at the offensive end, reeling off a 29-0 run.

Washington got hot from beyond the arc, making 5-7 from 3-point range. Plum made a tough leaning 3-pointer to beat the buzzer of the first quarter, but Talia Walton made two, while Osahor and Brianna Ruiz also connected from deep. The Huskies took a 39-16 lead to the break, nearly getting what Weber State had been allowing per game. The Wildcats had come into the game ranked 14th in the nation allowing only 51. 3 points per game.

Plum led all scorers with 13 in the half, while Walton added 10 and Katie Collier had five. The Dawgs also dominated the glass, outrebounding Weber State, 25-13.

After the break, Washington began to experiment with some different lineups and Weber State slowly crawled back in the game. Still, each Wildcat run was met with the Huskies doing what they needed so the outcome would not be in question.

Washington led 56-37 at the ends of three quarters, allowing 21 points in the period after just 16 in the entire first half.

Weber State would get as close as 11 in the final quarter, but Plum seemed to have an answer each time it was needed. She finished by shooting 8-19 from the floor, making one 3-pointer and 8-8 from the free throw line. Walton added 14, while Collier and Osahor each scored 10 to give the Dawgs four in double figures.

Washington shot 41.3 percent for the game, while holding Weber State to 36.2 percent. The Dawgs also had a 43-34 edge on the glass, while both teams had 14 turnovers.

The win over Weber State concludes the non-conference season for the Huskies with a record of 9-2. After a short holiday break the Dawgs will be back at it beginning on December 29 when they travel to Pullman to face Washington State. The Pac-12 opener is set for an 8 p.m. tip and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
