OREGON and USC are two of only eight undefeated teams in the country, the Ducks getting off to an 11-0 start while the Trojans are 12-0. It is UO’s best start since 1978-79. USC’s best start dates back to when current head coach and Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper-Dyke was a sophomore on campus in 1982-83 ... With just a few more non-conference games on the slate, Pac-12 teams begin their journies for the Conference title and seeding in the Pac-12 Tournament in Seattle, March 3-6. The action begins with a pair of rivalry matchups between WASHINGTON and WASHINGTON STATE on Tuesday night, followed by USC and UCLA on Wednesday night. Both games will be televised on the Pac-12 Network. WSU’s June Daugherty will be going for her 100th win at the Cougar helm ... CALIFORNIA’s Kristine Anigwe was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this seasons. She is the second-highest scoring freshman in the nation, ranking 15th overall. Arnecia Hawkins was tabbed the Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading ARIZONA STATE to an upset of then-No. 10/13 Florida State last week. The Sun Devils avenged a three-point loss to the Seminoles last year in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen ... Five teams are ranked again in the Associated Press poll, four are in the top 25 of the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll and seven Pac-12 teams in all are receiving votes. No. 10/10 OREGON STATE leads the Conference with the highest ranking. The Beavers nearly picked up a big road win over No. 3/3 Notre Dame on Monday night, falling by just one point ... OSU coach Scott Rueck is one win shy of his 100th Division I career victory.

OREGON’s Jillian Alleyne has been one of the Conference’s top rebounders since arriving on campus in 2012-13, leading the Pac-12 in rebounding the last two seasons. It is not surprising then that she ranks among the great Pac-12 rebounders of all time and is second only to former three-time All-American and 2014 John R. Wooden Award winner Chiney Ogwumike (Stanford).

1. Chiney Ogwumike, STAN (2011-14) 1567
2. Jillian Alleyne, ORE (2012-pres.) 1496
3. Kayla Pedersen, STAN (2008-11) 1266
4. Jayne Appel, STAN (2007-10) 1263
5. Nnemkadi Ogwumike, STAN (2009-12) 1226

Alleyne’s total numbers are impressive, but her career average is as well. Having averaged at least 11.9 rpg every season, her career average of 14.5 rpg through three seasons would break the all-time record currently held by former UCLA standout Natalie Williams who maintained a 12.8 rpg in her career from 1991-94.

With Pac-12 coaches hauling in some of the nation’s top talents, the promise of potential that can make immediate impacts are beginning to show. Two of the nation’s top-scoring freshmen are in the Pac-12. CALIFORNIA’s Kristine Anigwe, who has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week five times already this season, is the second-highest scoring freshman in the country, averaging 21.4 ppg, and ranks 15th among all players in the NCAA. WASHINGTON STATE’s Borislava Hristova ranks 56th in the country with an 18.2 ppg average also making her the fourth-highest scoring freshman in the country. Both are also in the top five in the Pac-12 in scoring.

Also making an impact this season is OREGON’s Maite Cazorla. Leading the Pac-12 in assists per game at 7.55 apg, she owns the highest assists average among freshman in the country and ranks fifth among all players. She is the only freshman in the nation to rank in the top 24 overall.
