Goff declares for NFL draft

Dec 31, 2015

California

Quarterback Jared Goff announced Thursday that he will enter the NFL draft. Jeff Faraudo notes that Goff, who set the Pac-12 record for single-season touchdown passes with 43, is rated as a top-two QB prospect and is a projected high first-round pick.

USC

Here’s the reaction from Kevin Gemmell to USC’s 23-21 Holiday Bowl loss to Wisconsin Wednesday night. USC ends the season with an un-USC-like record at 8-6 but finally has stability heading into next year.

Oregon

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin will not play in the Alamo Bowl after getting arrested in a bar fight and then striking a police officer, according to ESPN. The Horned Frogs play Oregon Saturday.

Stanford

Cool story from our own social media guru Justin Karp on Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan ending his college career at the Rose Bowl.

UCLA

UCLA women’s basketball took down USC 78-73 at Pauley Wednesday night, handing the Trojans their first loss of the season (Pac-12 Networks recap).

Arizona

Bruce Pascoe gives an update on Arizona basketball big man Kaleb Tarczewski. He’s practicing again, but Sean Miller said Tuesday that it’s too early to tell if he can play Sunday in the Pac-12 opener against Arizona State.

Washington

Husky hoops fans should like this – five-star Washington basketball signee Markelle Fultz was named MVP of the Les Schwab Invitational, a high school basketball tournament. Fultz plays for DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD), the same place that produced NBA players like Victor Oladipo, Keith Bogans and Sidney Lowe.

Colorado

Colorado men’s basketball is gearing up for a tough conference schedule, writes Pat Rooney. The Buffs kick off Pac-12 play against Cal Friday night in Berkeley; not exactly easing into the new year. No team went worse than Stanford’s 7-4 in non-league action, and the Cardinal played St. Mary’s, SMU, Villanova, Texas and Arkansas and have been hampered by all sorts of injuries.

Oregon State

Did you know that Oregon State men’s basketball is in the midst of its longest stretch of not playing a game since 1998? Send your thank-you notes to Danny Moran for that tidbit.

Utah

The Gooner (Kyle Goon) features an improving Dakarai Tucker of Utah men’s basketball. It’s all about having a different mindset, yo.

Washington State

The Sun Bowl has set up a medical fund for Washington State center Riley Sorenson’s family (his father suffered a heart attack before the bowl game), but check this message from WSU compliance before making a donation.

Arizona State

Kevin Gemmell also writes that Arizona State wants to be turnover-free in the Cactus Bowl against West Virginia. The Sun Devils gave the rock away 19 times this season and didn’t force more turnovers than they coughed up for the first time in the Todd Graham era.
