Colorado's Scott Earns First Pac-12 Player of the Week Award
SAN FRANCISCO - Senior Josh Scott recorded a double-double in both of COLORADO’s victories this week to earn his first career Pac-12 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award as voted upon by media who cover the league.
Scott averaged 21.0 points on 61 percent shooting (14-23) and 11.5 rebounds along with 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists as COLORADO (14-4, 3-2) moved into a four-way tie for third place in the Pac-12 with home victories over OREGON STATE and OREGON.
The 6-10 forward/center opened the week with a season-high 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting from both the field and foul line, 12 rebounds and three blocks as the Buffaloes eased by the Beavers, 71-54, on Wednesday. It marked Scott’s fourth 20-10 double-double of the season and 13th of his career.
Scott posted his fourth consecutive double-double and 10th of the season with 17 points and 11 boards in a 91-87 victory over the Ducks. He became the 10th COLORADO player to reach 1,500 career points in Sunday’s win and also climbed to fifth in rebounds (868) and a tie for seventh in double-doubles (33).
The third Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year nominee to earn a Pac-12 Player of the Week award this season (Poeltl - UTAH, Hawkinson - WSU), Scott is currently the only player ranked in the top 5 in the league in scoring (2nd, 17.8 ppg), rebounding (4th, 9.8 rpg), field goal percentage (5th, 57.5%) and blocks (T-5th, 1.8 bpg).
The 12-game Pac-12 slate this week features the league’s two AP Top 25 teams - No. 12 ARIZONA and No. 21 USC - on the road for a pair of games. The Trojans travel to OREGON (6 p.m. PT, PAC12) and the Wildcats visit STANFORD (8 p.m. PT, PAC12) on Thursday, while Arizona plays at CALIFORNIA (5:30 p.m. PT, ESPN) on Saturday and USC heads to OREGON STATE (12 noon PT, PAC12) on Sunday. Saturday will also feature UCLA visiting OREGON at 1 p.m. PT on CBS.
