Pac-12 Announces Wrestler of the Week
SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today that Amarveer Dhesi of OREGON STATE was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week for competition through Jan. 25-31.
Dhesi (Surrey, BC), a redshirt sophomore, won both of his matches and stretched his winning streak to four in a row this weekend with a major decision over No. 12 Tanner Hall of Arizona State on Jan. 29 and a pin of Northern Colorado’s Jack Kuck on Jan. 31. Dhesi, a heavyweight, (18-3) avenged his loss to Hall on Dec. 29 with a 12-4 major decision and then went on to earn his sixth pin of the season to defeat Kuck. It is Dhesi's first-career weekly accolade and the second in Oregon State program history.
The Beavers will compete three times this weekend, at Stanford on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Cal Poly on Feb. 5 and at CSU Bakersfield on Feb. 6.
Arizona State will host the 2016 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships on Feb. 27 in Tempe, Ariz.
