Here’s an Arizona-Arizona State men’s basketball game preview (6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT, ESPN2) courtesy of Kevin Massoth of STATS. The Wildcats have won five straight after a 4-4 start in league play.

Brian Howell points out that guard Xavier Talton has been a “calming influence” for Colorado men’s basketball. He doesn’t necessarily put up huge numbers, but he makes the right play. The Buffs play at USC Wednesday night (8 p.m. PT/9 p.m. MT, ESPNU).

As the Utes get ready to head to SoCal to play the LA schools, Kyle Goon notes that Pauley Pavilion has been unkind to Utah men’s basketball. The Utes haven’t won at UCLA since before John Wooden won his first national championship.

Check out this Cal Sports Quarterly feature on the on-court connection between Gabby Green and Mikayla Cowling of Cal women’s basketball. The two AAU foes (they didn’t like each other that much growing up) are now great friends and have great on-court chemistry.

Arizona State

Hath been a busy offseason for Arizona State football with respect to staff changes. The latest news is that Arizona State has hired Joe Seumalo as its defensive line coach. Seumalo held the same post at UNLV last year and was previously at Oregon State for nine seasons.

After losing to the Bows Monday night, USC men’s volleyball upset No. 5 Hawai’i Tuesday night, taking down the Rainbow Warriors in five sets thanks to a 21-kill, 11-dig performance from Lucas Yoder.

Washington football's Nick Irving was named Pac-12 Video Coordinator of the Year. I didn’t know this award existed, but congrats. The VC gig is one of the most time-consuming and thankless jobs in sports.

Oregon State

Head coach Pat Casey said Tuesday that Oregon State baseball will be without closer Mitch Hickey and outfielder Trevor Larnach the first weekend of the season. The Beavs kick off 2016 at the Surprise Tournament in Arizona against Ball State on Friday.

UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus was named Pac-12 Gymnastics Specialist of the Week after registering a 9.975 on the balance beam against Oregon State on Saturday.

Washington State

Jeff Collier of CougCenter takes a look at what’s ahead for Washington State baseball as it lifts the lid on 2016 this weekend. Marty Lees is in his first year at the helm of the Cougs.

Let’s discuss Oregon football’s positions of strength and need with Chantel Jennings. As always, there’s an embarrassment of riches in the backfield.

Stanford women’s lacrosse dominated St. Mary’s 20-1 Tuesday night in a contest broadcast by Pac-12 Networks (the recap is linked).
