Roundup: Goff 2nd, Buckner 3rd in CBS Sports mock draft

Former Cal quarterback Jared Goff is projected to go No. 2 overall to Cleveland in CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco’s 2016 NFL mock draft. He also has former Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner going third to San Diego and UCLA’s Myles Jack headed to the Giants at the No. 10 spot.

Oregon State

Gina Mizell recaps an emotional senior night for Oregon State women’s basketball, as the seventh-ranked Beavers took down No. 12 UCLA 64-54. The Beavs have now won 14 straight games, tying a program record set during the 1982-83 campaign.


Here’s the Associated Press recap of Utah men’s basketball’s 80-69 win at USC. The Utes gave the Trojans their first home loss of the season courtesy of Jakob Poeltl’s monster game (29 points, 13 rebounds, 11-13 FG).


Oregon men’s basketball earned a Civil War split by beating the Beavers 91-81 Saturday night. Tyson Alger of The Oregonian/OregonLive writes that Tyler Dorsey got back on track in the Ducks’ win over Oregon State – he scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting after going just 13-of-42 from the floor in his previous five games.


Jack Wang discusses the lineup changes for UCLA men’s basketball that went in before the Bruins went out to demolish Colorado 77-53. Tony Parker was moved back into the starting lineup as Thomas Welsh came off the pine.

Washington State

Here’s the AP recap of Washington State’s 80-62 loss to Cal Sunday night. Guaranteed to finish the regular season last in the Pac-12, the Cougars have lost 13 straight games.

Arizona State

Check out the Pac-12 Networks’ recap of Arizona State women’s basketball taking down Washington 77-57 on Senior Day thanks to a big run to end the third quarter and 25 points from Quinn Dornstauder, who was a ridiculous plus-41 on the floor.


Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has Washington men’s basketball in the first four out of his latest NCAA tournament projections. The Dawgs defeated Stanford Saturday to earn a home split against the Bay Area schools.


Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated has Arizona’s Sean Miller as one of his 10 candidates for coach of the year in men’s basketball.


From late last week – Bruce Feldman reported that a big LSU recruiter, Austin Thomas, will join USC as the director of player personnel/NFL research. Thomas was instrumental in LSU landing top 5 recruiting classes each of the last three years.


Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has this story on Colorado fullback Jordan Murphy as he readies for what he hopes is a future career in the NFL. Murphy was sitting 20 feet from where James Holmes opened fire in the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting in 2012.
