Utah claims top seed for Pac-12 Gymnastics Championship

SAN FRANCISCO – The team seedings for the 2016 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics Championships were determined based on the NCAA regional qualifying scores, as announced by the Conference today.

Defending champion UTAH earned the top seed for the Championships for the fourth year in a row with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 197.205 for Saturday’s 2016 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics Championships. Behind them in the No. 2 seed is UCLA with an RQS of 196.940. Holding the No. 3 seed is CALIFORNIA with a 196.555. Rounding out the top four is OREGON STATE with a 196.450. These four teams will compete in session two which is slated to begin at 6 p.m. PT.

The first session of the day will begin at 1 p.m. PT is led by host and No. 5 seed WASHINGTON with an RQS of 196.360. The other three teams in the first session include No. 6 seed STANFORD (196.305), No. 7 seed ARIZONA (196.155), and No. 8 seed ARIZONA STATE (193.905).

Teams and student-athletes from both sessions are eligible for the team and individual awards. Below lists the event at which each team will start Saturday. Competition will proceed in Olympic order.

Team regional qualifying scores are calculated on the teams’ six best regular-season meet scores. Three of these scores must be from an away competition. The highest score is eliminated then the remaining five scores are averaged.
