Roundup: Mark Helfrich out at Oregon

Oregon has fired football coach Mark Helfrich after a 4-8 campaign, the school announced Tuesday. Helfrich went 37-16 in four seasons as head coach, taking the Ducks to the College Football Playoff finals in his second season.

Graham Winkworth was named Arizona State women’s soccer head coach Tuesday. Winkworth has spent the last four years as head coach of South Alabama. When I see this guy’s picture, I think of one word – footy.
Arizona linebacker Cody Ippolito has been granted his release from the university and will seek a sixth year of eligibility after missing all of the 2016 season with a knee injury. Apparently, he has already reached out to Arizona State, Utah and UCLA, according to Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star.
Despite the speculation, Washington State running backs coach Jim Mastro says he will not take the Nevada head coaching job. Mastro was at Nevada for 11 seasons and produced one of the most explosive rushing attacks in the nation.
Oregon State cornerback Treston Decoud accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine game, Gina Mizell reports. Decoud had 58 tackles and two interceptions this year.
