Colorado newcomer Derrick White claims Pac-12 weekly award

Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week (12/12/16) - Derrick White, Sr., G, COLORADO

• Just 10 games into his NCAA Division I career, COLORADO senior guard Derrick White has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week as voted upon by media who cover the league.

• White averaged 22.0 points on 55 percent shooting (16-29 FG), including 50 percent beyond the arc (6-12), in two games last week, highlighted by a season-high 23 points in COLORADO's 68-66 upset of No. 13 Xavier on Wednesday. That victory over the Musketeers marked the Buffaloes' second over a ranked opponent this season.

The 6-5 guard from Parker, Colo., currently paces the Buffaloes and is seventh among Pac-12 newcomers in scoring at 15.6 points per game. He also ranks in the top 10 in the league in assists (10th, 3.3 apg) and steals (T9th, 1.2 spg).

• White sat out the 2015-16 season after transferring to CU following three standout seasons at Division II University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He was twice named an All-American while leading the Mountain Lions to two NCAA Tournament appearances and becoming the UCCS program's career scoring (1,912) and assists leader (343).
