Roundup: USC is a new team heading into the Rose Bowl

Zach Helfand of the Los Angeles Times writes that this is a new USC team that is preparing for the Rose Bowl against Penn State. The Trojans enter Pasadena on an eight-game winning streak after a 1-3 start had many question whether Clay Helton was the right man for the job.


Former Stanford and Baltimore Ravens tight end Konrad Reuland died Monday at the age of 29. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced after the Ravens’ loss to New England Monday night that Reuland had a brain aneurysm recently (CSN Mid-Atlantic).

Washington State

The Associated Press came out with its All-America teams Monday, and Washington State offensive tackle Cody O’Connell was named an AP first-team All-American.


Colorado’s Derrick White was named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week in large part for his 23-point performance to help the Buffs upset No. 13 Xavier.

Arizona State

Freshman wing Sam Cunliffe is intending to transfer from Arizona State, reports Doug Haller. Cunliffe, who on Twitter said his potential transfer is just speculation, averaged 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 10 games (all starts) this season.


Apologies for not getting to this on Monday, but former Cal goalkeeper Stefan Frei was named MLS Cup MVP in helping to lead Seattle Sounders FC to the MLS Cup championship.


Now this is how you re-introduce yourself to the national stage – playing in its first game as a ranked team since 2003, No. 25 Oregon women’s basketball throttled Clemson 87-59 behind Sabrina Ionescu’s triple-double (23 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists).


Pac-12 Networks released its TV schedule for softball, and Arizona softball will be on TV 20 times in the 2017 season. Twenty of the Wildcats’ 24 conference games will be on either Pac-12 Networks or ESPN.
