UCLA's TJ Leaf named Pac-12 Player of the Week for second time

Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week (12/19/16) - TJ Leaf, Fr., F, UCLA

Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year award nominee TJ Leaf earned his second Pac-12 Player of the Week award in the past three weeks in voting conducted by media who cover the league.

• The freshman from El Cajon, Calif., averaged 19.0 points on 61 percent shooting (17-28), including 50 percent behind the arc (4-8), 9.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in UCLA's two wins last week. The 6-10 forward was just two assists shy of a triple-double (25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists) in the Bruins' 102-62 win against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday. He totaled 13 points and eight rebounds in UCLA's 86-73 win against Ohio State on Saturday in Las Vegas.

• It marks the third weekly honor for UCLA this season along with Lonzo Ball's selection on Nov. 28. It also marks the fourth weekly award for a Pac-12 freshman so far in 2016-17, equaling the second-most in a season since the award was created in 1983 (7 - 2007-08; 4 - 2016-17, 2014-15, 2006-07).

Leaf is one of two Bruins to score in double figures in all 12 games (senior Isaac Hamilton), helping lead UCLA to a 12-0 record, its best start to a season since 2006-07 (14-0).
