Roundup: Oregon State hires new AD

After plenty of speculation, it’s official – Oregon State has hired Scott Barnes as its new athletic director (Associated Press). Barnes was most recently the AD at Pitt.

California

California Golden Blogs is reporting that Cal defensive tackle Aaron Cochran is returning for his senior season.

Oregon

According to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports (first reported by Neal McCready) and linked here by The Oregonian/OregonLive, former Oregon offensive coordinator Matt Lubick has been hired as the Ole Miss wide receivers coach.

Washington

Graham Hays of espnW.com features Washington’s Kelsey Plum and Oregon State’s Sydney Wiese as they continue along their record-setting careers. Plum is the Pac-12’s all-time leading scorer, while Wiese is the Pac-12’s all-time leading 3-point shooter by career makes.

UCLA

Clay Fowler of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin tells us that Lonzo Ball isn’t interested in changing his unconventional shooting form. It might not look pretty, but that sidewinding release has led him to shoot 43 percent from beyond the arc.

Arizona State

Arizona State men’s basketball tied a school record by hitting 18 3-pointers in Thursday afternoon’s 98-62 win over Central Arkansas. The Sun Devils head into the Christmas break and Pac-12 play at 7-6.

USC

Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times takes a look at what lies ahead for USC men’s basketball. The 12-0 Trojans defeated Missouri State 83-75 Thursday night and will next face Wyoming in the Las Vegas Classic (article was written before the win over Missouri State).

Utah

Utah men’s basketball lost to San Francisco 89-86 in its opening game at the Diamond Head Classic in Hawai’i Thursday night. On the positive side, Sedrick Barefield dropped 35. On the negative side (outside of losing the game), Kyle Kuzma left the game in the first minute after appearing to roll his ankle.

Stanford

Stanford men’s basketball rolled into the holiday break with an 86-80 win over Idaho Thursday night, and here are the Pac-12 Networks highlights to prove it. Stanford wraps up non-conference play at 8-4; pretty good considering the tough sked.

Colorado

Colorado men’s basketball got past Eastern Washington 76-68 Thursday night thanks to 17 points from Derrick White (Pac-12 Networks highlights).

Washington State
