Jan 30, 2017

Huge win for Stanford women’s basketball, erasing an 18-point deficit to defeat Washington 72-68 in Seattle despite Kelsey Plum going off for 44 points. The Cardinal is now tied with Oregon State at 9-1 for first place in the Pac-12. It was career win No. 999 for Tara VanDerveer. Also, Stanford has hired Kevin Hambly as its women’s volleyball coach. Hambly was most recently the head coach at Illinois for eight years, leading the Illini to the national title match in 2011

Hear from Kelsey Plum after scoring 44 points in the loss to Stanford in this Percy Allen-produced link. Plum, who fouled out, told Allen she was “upset” with the officiating in the game (she also gave plenty of credit to Stanford).

How did Oregon State get to 9-1? Sydney Wiese scored 23 points to lead the Beavers to a 67-60 win over Oregon Sunday in Corvallis, giving the Beavs their 13th straight win against the Ducks. Wiese hit some big shots.

One more highlight video, as No. 7 Arizona men’s basketball defeated Washington 77-66 to remain undefeated in Pac-12 play and grab a one-game lead over Oregon for sole possession of first place in the Pac-12.

Upset of the weekend went down in Boulder, where Colorado men’s basketball clamped down defensively to defeat No. 10 Oregon 74-65 and finish a home sweep against the Oregon schools (BuffZone.com). The Buffs held the Ducks to 39 percent shooting from the floor.

The folks at The Oregonian/OregonLive look at how Oregon's recruiting class compares to classes of the last decade through this slideshow of sorts.
