Pac-12 Sports Report Student Section Challenge honored at 2017 Cynopsis Sports Media Awards

SAN FRANCISCO – Pac-12 Networks today was honored at the 2017 Cynopsis Sports Media Awards Breakfast in New York City.  The Networks earned the award as a co-winner in the category of ‘Webisode Series’ for this year’s Pac-12 Sports Report Student Section Challenge.
This is the fifth Cynopsis Sports Media Award won by Pac-12 Networks, joining 2016’s win in ‘Overall Social Media Excellence,’ the ‘Best Use of Integrated Sponsorship for Broadcast’ for Pac-12 Networks’ Chevron ‘Human Energy Stories’ campaign in 2015, ‘Most Innovative Use of Twitter’ in 2014 and a ‘Digital Executive of the Year’ in 2013.
The Pac-12 Sports Report Student Section Challenge was a smash hit, generating 3.2 million impressions and 750,000 video views while driving fans throughout the fall to social channels to help advance their schools in the bracket. In addition, Pac-12 Networks host and emcee of the challenge Kate Scott also took viewers behind the scenes on Snapchat and Instagram throughout the series.  Pac-12 Networks was a co-winner in the ‘Webisode Series’ category with Lagardère Sports/Turner Sports/PGA of America for ‘The American Captain presented by Mercedes Benz.’
“We are honored and thrilled to receive this award,” said Leon Schweir, Pac-12 Networks senior vice president of production.  “I am proud of the creativity and determination of both our Pac-12 Networks team and student sections in executing this campaign and am personally excited for our senior digital video producer Candice Coots for originating this idea.”
As one of the leading media industry publications covering sports, cable and digital news, Cynopsis is in its sixth year honoring the best work in production, marketing and digital across the sports landscape.
