NCAA Track & Field West Prelims: Competition wraps up as student-athletes book tickets to nationals
Pac-12 student-athletes wrapped up the final day of the 2017 NCAA West Preliminaries hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. With the country split between West Prelims and East Prelims, student-athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary Rounds sites advanced through to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 7-10.
Since there are no multis in preliminary competition, the top 24 decathlon and heptathlon marks in the nation earn an automatic berth to Eugene.
50 trips today were booked for Nationals between individual event and relays, bringing the Pac-12 total to 107. Excluding relays, multis and individuals with multiple bids, 88 different student-athletes will head to Hayward Field in two weeks.
