Oregon State

Oregon State defeated Cal State Fullerton 6-5 in the College World Series opener in Omana Saturday afternoon, erasing a 5-1 deficit in the victory. Watch the highlights from Oregon State’s win here. The Beavs play LSU Monday at 4:05 p.m. PT on ESPN.

UCLA

Dan Feldman of NBC Sports reports that Los Angeles Lakers are moving closer to selecting Lonzo Ball at No. 2 in the NBA Draft Thursday. Hat tip to Chad Ford of ESPN here as well.

Utah

Read Kyle Goon’s story on Utah adding men’s lacrosse as a varsity sport. He notes that Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott was instrumental in the process, “viewing it as a TV property for Pac-12 Networks,” Goon writes.

California

Avinash Kunnath of California Golden Blogs gives us an Ivan Rabb scouting report as he gets ready for the NBA Draft. DraftExpress has Rabb going 29th to the San Antonio Spurs in its latest mock draft.

Colorado

Here’s an NBA Draft profile of Colorado’s Derrick White, courtesy of Sam Metivier of Ralphie Report. DraftExpress has him going 26th to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Oregon

Tyson Alger gets us caught up on Jordan Bell’s pre-draft process, as he has gone from late second-round pick to early second-round or late first-round selection by draft gurus.

Washington

Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe whipped up this 3,000-word feature story on Markelle Fultz right before the Boston Celtics traded the No. 1 pick to the Philadelphia 76ers. Still plenty of good stuff in here regardless; he just won’t be playing in Boston next year.

Arizona

Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports that Andre Iguodala will seriously consider offers from other NBA teams in free agency in July. Some of the teams reportedly interest in Iggy alongside Golden State are the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls.

Washington State

Washington State men’s basketball coach Ernie Kent became a grandfather last Monday, and here’s a little blurb from Jacob Thorpe. His daughter-in-law gave birth to an eight-pound, 20-inch girl.

USC

Chris Wootton was named a USC women’s tennis assistant coach, it was announced Friday. Wootton worked last year at Williams College with new USC women’s tennis head coach Alison Swain.

Arizona State

Arizona State Vice President for Athletics Ray Anderson is focused on upgrading ASU’s athletic facilities, notes Jeff Metcalfe.

Stanford

It’s a slow day in Stanfordville (congrats to those who graduated Sunday), so let’s go back to last month when Richard Sherman gave a high school senior a college scholarship. Wes McElroy of the Richmond Times-Dispatch has the story about how Varina High grad Hershai James will attend Norfolk State in the fall on Sherm’s dime.
