Roundup: Cal unveils new football uniforms

Stanford’s Katie Ledecky won the Honda Cup (NCAA female athlete of the year), becoming the first freshman to do so in more than 30 years (NBC Sports).


Utah men’s basketball will play BYU in the 2017-18 season after a year off from the non-conference series as a result of BYU’s Nick Emery punching Utah’s Brandon Taylor when the teams played during the 2015-16 campaign (Deadspin). Former Arizona men’s basketball star Miles Simon was named an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, GM Rob Pelinka announced Tuesday.

Washington State

According to international basketball star reporter David Pick, former Washington State big man Josh Hawkinson signed with a pro team in Japan (it’s a second division team). Go get your Toyotsu Fighting Eagles Hawkinson jersey.

Arizona State

Speaking of Japanese pro basketball, former Arizona State hooper James Andrisevic was named head coach of the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the same league Hawkinson will be playing in next year.

Oregon State

The Oregonian/OregonLive dives into the Oregon State starting quarterback competition, featuring Jake Luton, Marcus McMaryion and Darell Garretson.


Five former Oregon Ducks are on the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League roster – Jordan Bell, Chris Boucher, Jabari Brown (though he later transferred to Missouri), Elgin Cook and Dylan Ennis. The roster was announced Tuesday.


In case you missed it Monday, Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton will be playing in NBA Summer League, with Alford suiting up for the Warriors and Hamilton playing for the Pacers.
