70 former Pac-12 student-athletes on NBA opening day rosters

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 has 70 former student-athletes on NBA opening day rosters entering the 2017-18 season, which tips on Tuesday. The Conference has representation from each of its 12 members and on 25-of-30 NBA franchises.

The 70 former standouts is a reflection of the NBA's new 17-player roster limit, which includes up to two 2-way contracts that allow flexibility between a franchise's parent and G-League affiliate. Six former Pac-12 standouts have signed two-way deals to give the league a total of 64 former student-athletes on full contract.

That total is up from the 56 on full contract entering 2016-17, 62 in both 2015-16 and 2014-15, and 51 in 2013-14.

In comparing conference totals, the Pac-12 is second only to the ACC, which enters the NBA season with 90 on full contract and 80 excluding two-way deals. The Pac-12 (5.8 per member on full contract, 5.3 per member excluding two-way deals) is also second only to the ACC (6.0, 5.3) in terms of per-member average.

The Pac-12 had a league-record and national-best 14 selections in the latest NBA Draft, including six in the first round highlighted by the No. 1 and No. 2 overall selections and three lottery picks. Over the last five NBA Drafts (2013-17), the Pac-12 has produced 42 picks overall and 23 first-round selections, totals that are second only to the ACC (52, 30).
