Evans II earns another Pac-12 weekly honor for scorching Arizona State
Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week (12/11/17) - Shannon Evans II, Sr., G, ARIZONA STATE
• ARIZONA STATE senior guard Shannon Evans II earns his first Pac-12 Player of the Week award as voted on by media who cover the league. The weekly league honor is the fifth of Evans II's career as he was MAC Player of the Week four times during his sophomore season at Buffalo in 2014-15. With Tra Holder's back-to-back wins on Nov. 20 and 27, Sun Devil guards have won three of the last four Pac-12 weekly awards - the only other time ASU had such a run was three consecutive awards for Eddie House during the 1999-00 season.
• Evans II averaged 20.0 points on 52 percent shooting (13-25) from the field, including 53 percent behind the arc (8-15), and 5.5 assists with an 11-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio as the Sun Devils matched the best unbeaten start in program history at 9-0 with two victories.
• Evans II opened his week with 18 points, six rebounds and six assists as ASU defeated St. John's, 82-70, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday night. Less than 48 hours later, Evans II buried five 3-pointers en route to 22 points along with five assists and no turnovers as the Sun Devils knocked off No. 2 Kansas at Phog Allen Fieldhouse. The upset was the best non-conference victory over a ranked opponent in ASU program history.
• Arizona State climbed to No. 5 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 release on Monday, the highest ranking for the program since 1981. The Sun Devils are 9-0 for just the second time in program history (1974-75) and one of just seven remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I.
