Pac-12 announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Borislava Hristova, SO, F, Washington State (Varna, Bulgaria)
2 GP, 32.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 29-44 (.659), 3-4 FT (.750), 6 ast, 4 ast, 5 stl
• Coming back from injury that kept her out of the opening two games of league play, scored 36 points in an 89-75 over Colorado. It is the most points scored by a Pac-12 player this season.
• The 36 points came on 15-for-21 shooting, going to the free throw line just twice. It is also the third-most points scored by a Coug all-time while tying the program record for field goals made.
• Hit a career high four three-pointers in the win against the Buffs.
• Followed up with 29 points in a loss at Utah (81-79), again going to the line just twice.
• Borislava is the first Coug to earn the weekly nod since Dec. 15 2014. It is the 16th honor all-time for WSU.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Kiana Williams, FR, G, Stanford (San Antonia, Texas)
2 GP, 13.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 10-20 (.500), 2-3 FT (.667), 4 ast, 1 stl
• Stanford’s leading scorer in the team’s road split against Arizona and No. 25 Arizona State.
• Scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range in Stanford’s 61-46 win at Arizona on Friday night.
• Followed up with at 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting in a 73-66 loss at ASU on Sunday.
• Scored in double figures in seven of her last nine games, and is third in scoring among Pac-12 freshmen in league games, averaging 10.8 points in four Conference contests.
• Sixth freshman honor for Stanford all-time and first for Williams. Williams is the first Cardinal to earn the freshman weekly recognition since Brittany McPhee on Feb. 23, 2015.
