Three top-25 #PAC12GYM matchups slated this week

• Five ranked Pac-12 gymnastics teams compete this week against top-25 teams, highlighted by a clash of top-ranked teams on Sunday as No. 4 UCLA meets #1 Oklahoma. The two will go head to head in Los Angeles, broadcasted nationally on ESPN.
• On Saturday, the Pac-12 Networks Meet of the Week kicks off two top-25 matchups this week. No. 15 WASHINGTON travels to No. 3 UTAH, while No. 12 ARIZONA STATE heads to Corvallis to face No. 13 OREGON STATE in the 11th-annual DAM Cancer meet. Both meets will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
• On Friday No. 21 STANFORD travels to UC Davis to face the Aggies and San Jose State for the second time this season in a quad meet along with Seattle Pacific. Rounding out the weekend, No. 19 ARIZONA will meet CALIFORNIA in the Golden Bears’ home debut this season at Haas Pavilion.
• UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field passed the 500 career win mark last Saturday with the Bruins’ win over No. 2 LSU, No. 15 Washington and NC State at Metroplex Challenge. Kondos Field, who has coached the Bruins to six NCAA championships, now has 502 career victories since taking over the program in 1991.
• Pac-12 Specialist of the Week Christine Peng-Peng Lee scored a perfect 10 on beam, earning her second perfect 10 on the apparatus and fourth overall of her career. She is one of three gymnasts to be awarded perfect 10’s this season, joining Stanford’s Elizabeth Price and Florida’s Alex McMurty. 
• The undefeated Bruins took first place at the quad meet with a season-high score of 197.625, led by Pac-12 Gymnast of the week Kyla Ross, who won the all-around with a career-high 39.7 and also won vault with a 9.925 and tied for first on bars with a 9.925.
• Arizona also achieved a milestone last weekend with a new season high team score for second week in a row (196.325). Nine out of 11 Wildcat gymnasts recorded season highs, and seven of those nine also notched career highs. However, Utah earned the win on the road, tallying 197.550 points, the highest score of the season for the squad, who improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in Pac-12 play.
• Arizona State posted its highest team total since 2006 against California last week, defeating the Golden Bears, 194.850-196.800. Cal senior Toni-Ann Williams took the crown on three events for the second week in a row, winning titles on beam, floor and tying for first in the all-around with Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Week Cairo Leonard-Baker of ASU. 
• The same seven Pac-12 squads are ranked in the top-25 again this week, led by Utah at No. 3, and followed by UCLA, ASU, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona and Stanford who rank No. 4, 12, 13, 15, 18 and 23 respectively.

GYMNAST OF THE WEEK: Kyla Ross, SO, UCLA (Aliso Viejo, Calif.)
• Helped the undefeated Bruins take first place at the Metroplex Challenge with a season-high team score of 197.625, marking the 500th coaching victory for UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field.
• Won the all-around with a career-high 39.700 and took home first on vault and bars (tie), posting scores of 9.925 in both events. Also placed second on beam with a season-high 9.975 and tied for third on floor (9.875).  
• Has placed first on bars in UCLA’s last three meets and is tied for third in the nation in the event with an average score of 9.925.
• Currently ranked in the top five in the country in three events, tying for No. 3 on bars, No. 5 on beam and ranking third on the all-around.

FRESHMAN / NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Cairo Leonard-Baker, FR, Arizona State (Oakland, Calif.)
• Voted Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Week for the third-consecutive week.
• Helped ASU to a 196.800 effort over the Golden Bears' 194.850 in the Gym Devils’ Pac-12 home opener, the program's best team tally since the 2006 NCAA Championships.
• Led the Gym Devils with a career-high all-around score of 39.575, which tied for first with Cal’s Toni-Ann Williams. Score also ranks No. 26 (tie) in the ASU record book.
• Also posted a 9.950 to win bars and led the Gym Devils with a career-high 9.925 on floor, earning second place.

GYMNASTICS ON PAC-12 NETWORKS
Pac-12 Networks, now in its sixth season of unprecedented coverage of Pac-12 sports, will air 25 women’s gymnastics meets this season, including a “Meet the Bruins” preview. All eight Pac-12 schools will appear on the Networks at least three times: Arizona (3), Arizona State (4), California (5), Oregon State (7), Stanford (4), UCLA (7), Utah (7) and Washington (4). Both sessions of the 2018 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be televised live nationally on Pac-12 Network on Saturday, Mar. 24 at McKale Memorial Center in Tucson, Arizona.
