PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kirstyn Thomas, JR, INF, Washington (Houston, Texas)

• Led Washington to five wins to open the 2018 campaign at the Peterson Hotels Invitational, winning by a combined 70-3, including four shutout victories: Saint Louis (15-3), Bradley (11-0), Miami (OH) (19-0), Western Illinois (10-0), Bradley (15-0).
• Tied the school record for home runs through five games with five (Taylor Smith, 2011).
• Six RBI in a 15-0 win over Bradley was a new career high.
• Multiple-hits in three games and three or more RBI in four-consecutive games, while scoring multiple times in each game of the opening weekend.
• First weekly honor for Thomas and 99th all-time for Washington.

• Helped Washington to three wins in the season-opening weekend, picking up wins over Bradley on Friday and Sunday and Miami (OH) on Saturday.
• Back-to-back double-digit strikeout games for the first time in her career, while not allowing a runner to reach scoring position.
• 14.0-scoreless inning streak is second-longest of career (14.2 IP, April 22-29, 2017).
• 27 strikeouts in three-game span is most in her career, longest by a Husky since 2014.
• Fifth weekly honor all-time for Alvelo and 100th all-time for Washington.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Briana Perez, FR, INF, UCLA (Martinez, Calif.)
5 GP, 18 AB, 9 runs, 11 hits, 11 RBI, .611 avg, 1.167 SLG
• Tallied hits in all five Bruin victories, including multiple hits in four of five, to open the 2018 campaign.
• Posted hits in each of her first two at-bats, as well as a stretch of six-consecutive at-bats at one point during the weekend.
• Produced multiple RBI four times and scored a run in every game, including at least two on three occasions.
• Hit six singles, two doubles, one triple and two home runs.
• First weekly freshman honor for Briana Perez.
