Another memorable chapter was written in the Arizona-Arizona State rivalry Thursday night, with the Wildcats hanging for a 77-70 win to complete the sweep of ASU, but perhaps the oddest thing to come out of this game was an Arizona cheerleader being ejected for heckling during the game, reportedly using his megaphone to call out players by name (Yahoo Sports).
USC men’s basketball used a last-second alley-oop to defeat Oregon 72-70, with a Jordan McLaughlin-Chimezie Metu lob sealing it (CBS Sports). Helluva pass there from McLaughlin.
Making her case for Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Kiana Williams scored 26 points to lead Stanford to a 74-69 win over rival Cal for the team’s seventh straight win. The Card and Bears are back at it Saturday afternoon.
After watching the Utes notch a huge 70-58 win at Washington Thursday night, Kurt Kragthorpe opines that Larry Krystkowiak should be the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. The Utes are 16-9 overall (8-6 Pac-12) and have played its way onto the NCAA tournament bubble.
Lexi Bando’s return to the lineup is a big plus for Oregon women’s basketball, writes Andrew Greif. Tom FitzGerald features Cal baseball’s Tanner Dodson (along with Kevin Milam of Saint Mary’s), a dude who is a threat at the plate and on the mound. Dodson hit .297 last season for the Golden Bears, won the Cape Cod League batting title over the summer and can hit 96 on the radar gun.
