Networks to continue focus on digital innovation with promotion of Sam Silverstein to Vice President, Editorial
SAN FRANCISCO - Pac-12 Networks, the first wholly-owned collegiate conference media company, announced today the hiring of veteran sports media executive Larry Meyers to the newly formed role of Executive Vice President, Content. Meyers brings 20 years of experience in management, innovative content creation, production and distribution to the new role, including senior positions at Time Warner Cable Sports and the Tennis Channel. Meyers will drive Pac-12 Networks’ content and production efforts across all platforms, bringing Pac-12 fans closer to their favorite universities, wherever and whenever they want to consume Pac-12 content.
Pac-12 Networks also announced the promotion of Sam Silverstein, who has served as head of digital content for six years and whose prior roles included serving as managing editor at Yahoo! Sports, to the newly formed position of Vice President, Editorial. Silverstein, who will report to Meyers, will oversee the Networks editorial voice across all platforms to ensure the Networks’ mission of connecting fans to the teams and universities they love. He will also continue to play a key role in digital and social content development. Today’s announcements follow the recent appointment of Mark Shuken in September 2017 as Pac-12 Networks' new president.
“Larry Meyers brings a wealth of media company management and creative multi-platform content experience, along with a track record of success in driving audience engagement and growth to Pac-12 Networks,” said Shuken. “As we continue to leverage our ownership model to innovate on behalf of our fans and drive value for our members, the addition of Larry and promotion of Sam will enable us to continue to grow and showcase the very best of the Pac-12 to our fans across the country and around the world.”
“As the most in-depth, knowledgeable and behind-the-scenes voice of the Pac-12, I’m thrilled that someone with Sam’s editorial experience and expertise in digital and social platforms in particular will play an enhanced role in showcasing our university athletic programs and student-athletes,” added Shuken.
“I am excited to join the Pac-12 Networks team and to continue the drive to create and produce the very best and most compelling content for our fans,” said Meyers. “The Pac-12 has an incredible breadth and depth of sports and student-athletes and I’m looking forward to serving our fans with the very best of their favorite universities’ athletic programs, supported by world-class technologies and production capabilities.”
Prior to joining Pac-12 Networks, Meyers served as Vice President, Content & Executive Producer at Spectrum Sports/Charter Communications (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports), where he led strategic planning and content execution and launched three new networks. Previously, Meyers was Senior Vice President, Production & Executive Producer at the Tennis Channel. His experience also includes production and direction projects for ESPN, Fox Sports and NBC Olympics.
