Pac-12 announces Tennis Players of the Week

Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week: Evan Zhu, So., UCLA (Irvine, Calif.)
• Zhu recorded five wins last week in UCLA’s three shutouts that highlighted consecutive wins over ranked opponents to collect his second Conference honor this season. The Bruins defeated UC Irvine, 7-0, No. 3 Stanford, 4-0, and No. 30 California, 4-0.
• At the No. 1 singles position, the sophomore recorded a victory against UC Irvine 6-2, 7-5, to open the week. He then knocked off Stanford’s No. 50-ranked Axel Geller, 6-4, 6-4, and California’s JT Nishimura, 6-4, 6-4, on the second court, improving to 13-5 overall this season.
• Zhu teamed up with Martin Redlicki on the top court for two doubles wins. The duo defeated UC Irvine, 6-3, for the point-clinching decision and then upset California’s No. 13-ranked pair of Billy Griffith and Nishimura, 6-4.
• Earns his third career Pac-12 Tennis Player of the Week honor and UCLA’s 37th all-time weekly award.

Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week: Michaela Gordon, Fr., Stanford (Saratoga, Calif.)
• No. 16-ranked Gordon shined in Stanford’s three wins last week. Recorded three individual wins on the top court and one doubles victory to help the Cardinal blank UC Santa Barbara, 7-0, Arizona State, 4-0, and Arizona, 5-0, for its seventh straight victory.
• Started the week with a win over UC Santa Barbara, 6-2, 6-3, and then topped Arizona State’s No. 56-ranked Lauryn John-Baptiste, 6-3, 6-0. Finished the desert road trip besting Arizona’s Devin Chypyha, 6-2, 6-1, and extended her overall record to 19-5 this season while going 6-3 versus nationally-ranked opponents.
• Paired up with Emily Arbuthnott on the No. 1 Court to record a 6-3 win over UC Santa Barbara. The No. 3 nationally-ranked Cardinal duo improve to 14-3 this season.
• Earns first Pac-12 Tennis Player of the Week honor and Stanford’s 20th all-time weekly award.
