Here’s a “Pac-12 Sports Report” feature on Cal baseball’s Andrew Vaughn giving back to his Santa Rosa community that was ravaged by wildfires (his grandparents’ house was destroyed).

Mark Whicker of the Los Angeles Daily News features former USC baseball player and coach Mike Gillespie, who is calling it a career after this season. Gillespie is in his 11th year as the head coach at UC Irvine after taking USC to four College World Series and was a left fielder on the Trojans’ 1961 championship team.

NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals began Monday, and Arizona’s George Cunningham was tied for first on the player leaderboard after one round at his regional (the Wildcats were 4-under as a team on Monday in the Kissimmee (Florida) Regional).

Likewise, Stanford men’s golfer Brandon Wu was tied for first at 5-under after the first round at the NCAA Pacific Regional (the Cardinal was in fifth as a team, and the top five teams make it to the NCAA Championships).

Christian Hill of The Register-Guard reports that the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office and a University of Oregon representative are at odds over the historic status of Hayward Field’s East Grandstand. I’ll let Hill get into the particulars.

Didn’t get a chance to get to this with all of the NCAA action over the weekend -- the Pac-12 handed out its softball year-end awards on Saturday, and UCLA’s Rachel Garcia was named Pac-12 Player of the Year, while Bruin frosh Aaliyah Jordan was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

Hey now – Oregon State baseball dominated San Diego 23-6 in seven innings Monday night in Corvallis. The Beavs were on pace for like 30 runs before the game was called. You can catch the back end of this two-game midweek series Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks.
