Morris Excited to Continue her Growth at Oregon State

6-foot-7 center was drawn to the Beavers by the "family atmosphere"

Looking to join a growing list of dominant centers for Oregon State, Patricia Morris can't wait to get out on the court with the Beavers.

The family atmosphere of the program stood out to Morris from the first time she met with the coaching staff during her junior year at Duarte High School in California. Once she got to campus to meet with the team it only bolstered her thoughts of becoming a Beaver. Meeting with her future teammates and watching them go on to the Elite Eight gave Morris a lot of confidence that the Beavers will once again be a force to be reckoned with in the Pac-12.

"When I first met with the coaches I loved how family oriented they were. Being away from home it's nice to come in and instantly feel like I had a second family here," Morris said. "I really like where this program is headed, I think we've got a lot of talented players on the team and we are all going to be able to contribute to win games.

Coming in at 6-foot-7, Morris consistently scored and rebounded, as well as controlling the rim defensively, in the front court in high school. She is looking to come into Oregon State and contribute wherever she is needed on the court.

"I'm ready to do whatever I need to do and continue to learn to help our team win every game I can," Morris said.

Following Ruth Hamblin and Marie Gulich in the center position seems like a daunting task, but Morris said she's ready for the challenge and that the play in the front court for the Beavers over the years played into her decision to come to Corvallis.

"It definitely did influence my decision. Seeing how Marie (Gulich) transitioned while she was here and seeing her go to play in the WNBA now really motivated me to think that's where I can be if I really work at it while I'm here."

Out of all the things she is most looking forward to about playing for OSU, Morris says the competition she'll get to face tops the list.

"I'm excited to play against this level of competition and continue to get better," Morris said. "There's a lot of really good centers in this conference and I'm excited to get to compete against them every week."
