USC freshmen Bradley Frye and Jake Sands opened up their Trojan careers on a winning note in a victorious first day at the Battle in the Bay. After teaming up for doubles victory to start the day, Frye and Sands divided and conquered for decisive singles wins in the Round of 32 today in San Francisco. Junior Brandon Holt, too, nabbed a win to start his singles journey up north. 

Farther south at the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, senior Laurens Verboven has stormed his way into the singles semifinals after two straight-set wins today. Sophomore Daniel Cukierman got a Round of 16 win to start the day, but fell in a three-setter in this evening's quarterfinals.

And in Wisconsin at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic Logan Smith and redshirt junior Jake DeVine mirrored each other's Round of 32 scores with 6-3, 6-4 victories apiece to move on. Smith would fall in his Round of 16 match, while DeVine's match was suspended after split sets, leaving the third to be played tomorrow. DeVine and Smith are also scheduled to pair up for doubles action tomorrow in Milwaukee.
