It's just four weeks into the 2018 season, and already three different Trojans have picked up honors as the MPSF Newcomer of the Week. This week's winner is freshman
Nic Porter, making it back-to-back USC goalies to earn the honor. The Aussie follows fellow freshmen
Hannes Daube and goalie
Sam Krutonog on the MPSF Newcomer of the Week honor roll to date.
In USC's 11-8 win over No. 6 Pacific last week, Porter set an early career high for himself and anchored the Trojans to a comeback win with 14 saves posted. After the visiting Tigers took a 4-1 lead in the first period, Porter would amass 12 saves in the next three periods to back up USC's comeback rally to stay undefeated at 12-0 on the year.Â
Porter and the top-ranked Trojans have five games ahead this week, with four games slated for the Lancer Joust in Riverside Sept. 28-29 before returning home for a clash with UC Santa Barbara at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 30).
