Field Hockey Shuts Out Davis For 400th Win

DAVIS, Calif. -- California field hockey earned the program's 400th win with a decisive shutout against UC Davis, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Aggie Field Hockey Facility.

Katrina Carter led the Bears with three points on one goal and one assist. Megan Rodgers and Maddie Cleat also scored goals, while Gabi Jimenez and Femke Delissen added to their assist totals.

The Golden Bears built their momentum early, scoring in the 15th and 18th minutes to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Cleat scored at 15:01 with an assist by Carter, and then Carter got herself into the goal-scoring column less than three minutes later after intercepting a pass by Jimenez. With back-to-back goals in a three-minute span, Cal took a 2-0 lead and a dominant 35-minute performance into halftime.

The Bears led the Aggies in shots, 11-1, and corners, 8-0, in the first 35 minutes.

Rodgers padded the lead in the second half with her sixth goal in the last four games to make it a five-game scoring streak, scoring on a penalty corner with help from Delissen.

The Bears finished the game with a clear offensive advantage, outshooting the Aggies 25-5 with 10 shots on goal, plus a 14-2 lead in penalty corners. UC Davis goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow tallied seven saves, while Cal's Danielle Mentink played all 70 minutes with one save and no goals allowed for her second shutout of the season.
