LOS ANGELES – USC women's soccer forward
Leah Pruitt earned both Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honors after leading the No. 2 Trojans to a win at No. 22 Washington State this past weekend.
Â
Pruitt led the way in a 3-2 victory, scoring the opening goal of the game and then assisting on the game-winner in the second half. It is the first Pac-12 weekly award of her career.
Â
Pruitt's goal in the first half was her team-leading eighth of the season, putting her third in the conference in goals scored so far this year. Pruitt's assist was her fifth of the season, putting her fifth in the conference, and was the 17th of her career, putting her in a tie with Amy Rodriguez for sixth on the Trojans' all-time list.
Â
The senior striker converted a PK in the first half to open up the scoring and then assisted on the game-winner in the second half by working her way to the endline and sending in a perfect cross to
Penelope Hocking for the header.
Â
It was Pruitt's fourth game with at least three points this year as she leads the team with 21 total points. Her eight goals are a career high.
Â
Pruitt is the second Trojan to pick up Pac-12 weekly honors this season, after
Kaylie Collins was named Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 4. USC is 12-1-1 overall on the year and 5-1 in Pac-12 play to sit second in the conference standings.
