• Before the 2018-19 season has even tipped off and Pac-12 women’s basketball is already making history starting the new campaign with three top-10 ranked teams in the Associated Press and USA Today/WBCA Coaches preseason polls. It marks the first time in league history three teams are in the top 10. Five teams in all are ranked by the AP with OREGON leading the way at No. 3, the highest-ever rating for the squad. The writers also ranked STANFORD No. 7 for its 19th-consecutive appearance in the poll. OREGON STATE received its highest-ranking ever, as well, coming in at No. 8. It is the third year in a row five Pac-12 teams are in the AP preseason top 25, with CALIFORNIA and ARIZONA STATE coming in at No. 23 and No. 24, respectively ... The national coaches poll has the Ducks and Cardinal in the same spots, while OSU is No. 9. UCLA rounds out the Pac-12 teams, coming in at No. 23 .

• 15 Pac-12 student-athletes were named candidates for five national positional awards, including last year’s recipients UO’s Sabrina Ionescu (Nancy Lieberman Award) and Ruthy Hebard (Katrina McClain Award). All but one of the awards has at least three Pac-12 candidates with Cal’s Kristine Anigwe as the lone representative for the Lisa Leslie Award. Three of the five positional awards are named after former Pac-12/10 standouts ... Ionescu was also tabbed an AP Preseason All-American ... The Conference is enjoying its most successful run of seasons, coming off a fifth-consecutive year with at least five NCAA Tournament teams. The Pac-12 has won more NCAA Tournament games over the last thee seasons of any conference and is the only league to have three teams in the NCAA Elite Eight over that span ... Two top-25 matchups highlight the opening week, with the Ducks hosting #18/18 Syracuse on Nov. 10, and ASU hosting #4/5 Baylor at Bee Holdzil Fighting Scouts Event Center on the Navajo Reservation on Veterans Day on ESPN2.
