Beavers Ready For Monday Night Basketball At Gill

vs. PEPPERDINE: Oregon State and Pepperdine are meeting for the fifth time in history with the Beavers leading the series, 4-0, with two of the wins coming in the NCAA Tournament.
 
The teams first met on March 16, 1962 in Provo, Utah in the NCAA West Regional Semifinals. Oregon State won the game 69-67, as Mel Counts, Terry Baker and Steve Pauly scored 15 points apiece. Counts also grabbed 21 rebounds. The Beavers lost to UCLA the following night in the NCAA West Regional Final, 88-69.
 
The teams had a home-and-home series in 1980 and 1981. Oregon State won 82-76 on Dec. 6, 1980 in Malibu, Calif., and 84-69 on Dec. 12, 1981 in Corvallis.
 
The last meeting came on March 14, 1982 in Pullman, Wash., in the NCAA West Regional Second Round. Oregon State won 70-51 behind 18 points from Danny Evans, 16 from Lester Conner and 14 from Charlie Sitton. The Beavers defeated Idaho, 60-42, in the NCAA West Regional Semifinals in Provo, Utah before falling two nights later to No. 1-seed Georgetown, 69-45, in the NCAA West Regional Final.
