USC's Rakocevic collects second Pac-12 Men's Basketball weekly honor
Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week (1/21/19) - Nick Rakocevic, Jr., F, USC
SAN FRANCISCO - USC junior forward Nick Rakocevic earns his second Pac-12 Player of the Week award of the season as voted on by media who cover the league.
• Rakocevic made 9-of-12 shots from the field en route to a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double in just 28 minutes to help USC snap a four-game skid in the crosstown rivalry with UCLA, 80-67, on Saturday. The double-double was Rakocevic's league-leading eighth of the season and the 6-11 forward from Chicago matched a career-high with four assists against just one turnover.
• The Trojans led by just three, 36-33, at the break, but Rakocevic totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the second period to propel USC to a 26-point lead at its peak.
• It marks the second weekly award for Rakocevic in the past three weeks - the quickest timeframe a Trojan has earned multiple weekly awards (Wayne Carlander, four weeks in 1984-85) and the first USC player to win multiple weekly awards in a season since Jordan McLaughlin in 2016-17.
• USC (10-8, 3-2) begins a challenging three-game stretch Thursday when it hosts Arizona (6 p.m. PT/FS1). The Trojans then welcome Arizona State on Saturday (5 p.m. PT/ESPN2) before starting next week's road trip at league unbeaten Washington.
ALSO NOMINATED: Brandon Williams, ARIZONA; Zylan Cheatham, ARIZONA STATE; Tres Tinkle, OREGON STATE; Josh Sharma, STANFORD; Timmy Allen, UTAH; Jaylen Nowell, WASHINGTON.
