IRVINE, Calif. – The Fischer sisters each scored four times and No. 2 Stanford started off the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with an 18-4 win over No. 21 CSUN on Friday. The Cardinal will play the winner of No. 7 UC Irvine and No. 10 Pacific tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m.

Aria poured in four for the third time this season, getting two in the first quarter and one each in the second and third. Makenzie rattled the cage once in each period and has scored four in six consecutive games.

Sarah Klass and Madison Stamen also added hat tricks and the Cardinal (8-0) has put up at least 17 goals in every game this season.

The Cardinal tallied six in the opening quarter, with Klass (3) and Aria Fischer (2) combining for five. The sophomores each scored two of Stanford's first four, Makenzie Fischer was successful on the power play at 1:20 and Klass wrapped up the frame with another 6-on-5 tally at 12 seconds to put her team up 6-1 after one.

It was 7-1 after a Makenzie Fischer converted a penalty at 7:27 in the second, which preceded CSUN's second goal off the hand of Sara Dempsey 70 seconds later. Stanford reeled off the next five, with three coming from Stamen during a three-minute stretch midway through the quarter.

Mackenzie Wiley scored on a five-meter penalty with 46 seconds to go until halftime, but the Matadors' Emma Franck answered with four seconds to go and Stanford took a 12-3 lead into intermission.

After Franck's goal, CSUN wouldn't score again for nearly 14 minutes, until Rachael Fusco found the back of the cage with 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinal opened the second half by scoring the first six to reach its final total of 18, with goals coming from Makenzie Fischer (2), Ryann Neushul, Aria Fischer, Chloe Harbilas and Kat Klass.
