Swim/Dive Qualifies 10 for the National Championship

TEMPE, Ariz. – 10 Sun Devil swimmers and divers will compete at the 2019 Swimming and Diving National Championships beginning Wed., March 20 with the women's championships and concluding on Sat., March 30 with the men's championships.
 
Emma Nordin, Cierra Runge and Fanny Teijonsalo highlight the Sun Devils' selections, as the three women have both qualified for three events. Nordin and Runge will take the block in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle for ASU, while Fanny Teijonsalo will compete in the 50 free, 100 butterfly and 100 free. Silja Kansakoski will round out the Sun Devil women's swimmers in the 100 and 200 breast.
 
Ashley McCool joins the women on the diving board, earning a qualifying spot in the one meter and three meter springboard events after competing at the Zone E Championships earlier this week.
 
On the men's side, Zach Poti and Grant House both qualified for three events: Poti in the 100 and 200 back and 50 free events and House in the 200 IM, 200 free and 200 breast. Carter Swift will make his first National Championship appearance this season, taking a qualifying spot in the 50, 100 and 200 free.
 
Youssef Selim and David Hoffer are set to make their third National Championship appearances on the diving board, with both men qualifying in all three diving events. Selim's trip to Austin is his third-straight for the junior after having a successful Zone E Championships earlier in the week.
 
The Sun Devil women will also compete in the 400 and 800 free relays along with the 200 medley relay while the men earned a qualifying spot in all five relays (200, 400, 800 free relay and 200, 400 medley relay).
 
The 2019 Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships will take place in Austin, Texas from Wed., March 20-23 followed by the men's championship from Wed., March 27-30. The University of Texas will serve as the host, and fans can keep up with the action through following @ASUSwimDive on Twitter.
