UCLA Rowing Prepares to Face Loyola Marymount

March 14, 2019 | Women's Rowing

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's rowing program will face Loyola Marymount this Saturday morning in the team's second dual competition of the spring season.

Races are expected to begin at 7:20 a.m. on Ballona Creek.

UCLA will race a pair of varsity fours against LMU's second varsity four crew at 7:20 a.m. In addition, the Bruins will race their second and third varsity eight crews against Loyola Marymount's second varsity eight at 7:30 a.m.

The final two races of the morning will feature the varsity four crews from both schools at 7:45 a.m., followed by the varsity eight crews at 8 a.m.

UCLA looks to continue off its strong performances against San Diego State from last Saturday. The Bruins won all four races against the visiting Aztecs in Marina del Rey on March 9.

"We are looking forward to lining up against LMU this weekend," Bruins' head coach Amy Fuller Kearney said. "We've reviewed our races from last Saturday, and we are looking to build on our strengths and definitely improve some of the weaker moments. We will also plan to slightly change our team's lineups, as we look to get different combinations and continue with our boat selection."

UCLA's home races are free to the public and parking is available along Fiji Way, approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the team's boathouse. On the north side of the boathouse, the marina serves as a practice site and racing venue for the Bruins' regattas. Along the south side, Ballona Creek serves as the Bruins' 2000-meter race course.

The address to UCLA's boathouse is 14001 Fiji Way (located in Marina del Rey). From the 405 freeway, take the 90 West until it turns into a surface street and intersects at Mindanao. Turn left to Mindanao and continue to Lincoln Blvd. Take a left at Lincoln Blvd before turning right onto Fiji Way.

Parking on race days is restricted to either the Fisherman's Village (five-minute walk from the boathouse) and or Dock 52 (10-15 minute walk from the boathouse).
