TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 8 Sun Devils struck first and tied the score twice late in the second quarter but No. 3 UCLA ultimately pulled away for a 12-9 win in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) action.

Lieke Rogge scored first for ASU in the first minute of play before UCLA took a 3-1 lead. ASU pulled within one, 3-2, by the end of the first quarter as
Bente Rogge scored her first goal of the match in a team-leading three-goal effort.

UCLA scored early in the second quarter before
Amira Van Buren and
Maud Koopman scored back-to-back goals to tie it up, 4-4. UCLA and ASU, off the hand of
Blaire McDowell, traded goals over the next minute plus to once again tie it, 5-5. With 11 seconds left before halftime, the Bruins scored to regain a lead they would not give up for the remainder of the contest.

The Bruins tacked on three more goals in the first half of the third quarter before Van Buren scored her second of the game.
Bente Rogge scored back-to-back goals at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters to pull ASU within two, 10-8, but UCLA would score two to ASU's one,
Maud Koopman's second, to close out the match.

Van Buren also added two steals to her multi-goal match.

In goal,
Bridget Johnston made seven saves in the complete game effort for ASU while Carlee Kapana made 11 saves in the win for UCLA. ASU's attack was strong, outshooting the Bruins, 30-26.

The Sun Devils have two weeks until their next competitions, hosting the ASU Invitational #2 in their final home action of the season. ASU's 10:30 am match on Saturday, Mar. 30 vs. San Jose State will serve as Senior Day, honoring this year's senior class.
