MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing program won three of four races against Loyola Marymount in a dual meet on Saturday morning on Ballona Creek.

In the Bruins' second competition of their spring season, UCLA won the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four races. Loyola Marymount won the first race of the day, as LMU's second varsity four crew defeated UCLA's fourth varsity four crew.

"We did a nice job today," UCLA head coach Amy Fuller Kearney said. "I was really pleased with the execution of our varsity eight. We really want to continue working on our execution in all boat classes, making sure that we're efficient. We don't want to waste any energy out there. I was excited about the progress that we've been making, especially as we're coming off the week prior to finals. I was happy to see them step up and bring the best in what they had out here today."

UCLA's varsity eight crew registered a final time of 6:13.48 in the final race of the day. The Bruins crossed the finish line 20.96 seconds ahead of LMU's varsity eight crew.

The Bruins' second varsity eight (6:32.70) finished ahead of LMU's second varsity eight (6:42.80). The Bruins' third varsity eight finished just behind LMU's crew, posting a time of 6:43.60.

UCLA's varsity four boat crossed the finish line nine seconds ahead of LMU. The Bruins' crew recorded a time of 7:19.30, well ahead of LMU's time of 7:28.30.

In the first race of the day, LMU's second varsity four posted a time of 7:36.50. UCLA finished second in that race with a final time of 7:45.50.

UCLA will return to action in three weeks, competing at the two-day San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.
