March 17, 2019 | Softball

Tempe, Ariz. – Oregon State softball scored two runs in the first inning but couldn't maintain the lead and fell to No. 17/19 Arizona State in the final game of the weekend, 12-4.

Shelby Weeks led off with a single up the middle and then stole her 53rd career stolen base to be in scoring position for the Beavers (17-7 overall, 1-2 Pac-12 Conference) when Lovie Lopez laid down a bunt single and advanced to second on a bad throw from ASU (22-8, 2-1) allowing Weeks to score. Jessica Garcia hit a single up the middle later that inning that scored Missy Nunes to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead in the first.

ASU captured the lead in the bottom of the second, making it 9-2.

Nunes cut down the Sun Devil's lead in the fourth inning with a double into left-center field that scored Weeks and Lopez. OSU trailed 9-4 heading to the bottom of the fourth.

ASU scored two more times in the fourth and once in the fifth to drop the Beavers 12-4.
