PHOENIX, Ariz. – Utah dropped its Monday afternoon game 11-2 at Grand Canyon to finish up a weekend in Arizona.
Oliver Dunn went 2-4 at the plate for the Utes and scored one run.
Zack Moeller went 1-4 with an RBI.
Utah took a 2-1 lead in the third inning after a Moeller single, and then an error and wild pitch by Grand Canyon moved Dunn home.
The Lopes came right back though and retook the lead in the bottom half of the third and then scored four more in the fourth to go up 8-2.
Utah managed two hits in the fifth, but couldn't mount a comeback after that.
Brett Brocoff got the start on the mound and his record fell to 0-3 on the season.
Dustyn Schramm finished the game for Utah pitching 4.2 innings and had a career high six strikeouts.
Utah's record is now 7-9 on the season.
Utah will travel to No. 2 Stanford this weekend to continue Pac-12 play against the Cardinal. The first game of the series is Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m.
