AUSTIN, Texas – The foursome of Cierra Runge, Emma Nordin, Kendall Dawson and Erica Laning combined to set the school record in the 800 free relay on day one of the 2019 Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships.

The squad also garnered honorable mention All-America honors with their 12th-place finish.

On top of shattering the 800 free relay record at 6:58.78, Runge's leadoff leg of 1:43.46 also reset the top mark in the 200 free, a record she had already previously set earlier in the season.

Nordin followed Runge with a 1:43.12 split, Dawson afterward at 1:46.28 and Laning anchored the squad with a time of 1:45.92.

The 12th-place finish represents a huge improvement in the event compared to last year in Columbus where the Sun Devils placed 24th with a time over 10 seconds slower at 7:10.26.

The Sun Devils are back in action tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. for the preliminary rounds of the 500 free, 50 free and one meter diving. Fans can keep up with the action all week-long by following @ASUSwimDive on Twitter.
