Robert Franks Named to NABC All-District First Team

Franks becomes the ninth Cougar to pick up NABC First Team All-District Honors.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Washington State men's basketball senior Robert Franks has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 20 First Team, the organization announced Thursday.

Franks picks up the NABC honor for the first time in his career and becomes the first Cougar to be named to an NABC District team since Josh Hawkinson earned second team in 2017. Franks is the first Cougar to earn first team honors since Brock Motum in 2012.  Prior to Motum, Klay Thompson (2010 and 2011), Derrick Low (2008), Kyle Weaver (2007 and 2008), Isaac Fontaine (1996 and 1997), Mark Hendrickson (1996), Terrence Lewis (1992) and Brian Quinnett (1989), each picked up the first-team honor. 

The organization divides all Division I schools into 25 Districts, District 20 consists of the Pac-12 schools. 

A native of Vancouver, Wash., Franks led Washington State and leads the Pac-12 and ranks 23rd in the nation with 21.6 points per game. He added a league eighth-best 7.2 rebounds per game. Franks finished his career eighth on WSU's single-season scoring list with 583 points and 14th in career points with 1,349. Franks also ranks ninth in WSU's career record books for 3-pointers (166) and tied for fourth in the single-season books with 21.6 points per game. Last season Franks was named the Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year. This season Franks became the first Cougar to be named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team since 2015, as he also picked up USBWA District IX honors.
