Sims In Second of Heptathlon Following First Day at Aztec Invite

SAN DIEGO – Utah's Kolbi Sims currently sits in second place in the women's heptathlon following the first day of completion at the 41st annual Aztec Invitational. Sims is in second place with 3030 points following four events from Thursday's competition.
 
Sims took fifth place in both the 100m hurdles and high jump events, before taking third overall in the shot put. She would take first in the 200m sprint to total 865 points, giving her 3030 points on the day.
 
"It was a solid first day in the heptathlon for Kolbi," head Utah track and field coach Kyle Kepler said. "She ended the day on a great note in the 200m event, despite a heavy rain. We are looking for a good finish from her tomorrow, along with a great first day in our other events though our the competition."
 
Sims currently sits in second place 192 points back from SDSU's Asia Smith, who sits in first place with a total of 3222 points. She is ahead of Seattle Pacific's Scout Cai (2878 points), Point Loma's Friederike Kallenberg (2869) and Seattle Pacific's Renick Meyer (2827).
