Trojans Fall in Series Opener at Washington, 7-1

SEATTLE, Wash. – The USC baseball team dropped its series opener at Washington on Friday afternoon, falling 7-1 to the Huskies.

USC falls to 8-12 overall and 2-2 in Pac-12 play, while Washington moves to 12-5 overall and 3-1 Pac-12.

The Huskies' David Rhodes was perfect on the mound through 5.0 innings and ended up giving up just one hit and no runs in the start. USC finally got to the Washington pitching when Chris Micheles entered the game in the seventh, scoring one run on two hits and a Washington error. That was it for the Trojan offense on the day, however.

The Huskies used three homers and eight total hits to put up seven runs, starting with a solo-homer in the second. Washington would get a two-run shot as part of a three-run fourth inning to break the game open and scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Connor Lunn struck out eight batters but ended up taking the loss. Austin Manning pitched the eighth for USC.
