TEMPE, Ariz. – Senior Julia Massaro set a school record and sophomore Katherine Gjertsen scored four times to lead No. 19 Stanford women's lacrosse to a 15-4 win at Arizona State on Saturday afternoon.

Stanford (7-2, 3-1) won its ninth straight road game dating back to last season, and has won seven of its last eight overall this year.

Massaro set the program's all-time career record when she scooped up her second draw control of the game with 11:22 left in the first half. She surpassed the 14-year-old mark held by Kelsey Twist, who had 161 from 2002-05. Massaro finished with a team-high five draw controls and now has 165 draw controls in her career.

Gjersten tied a career-high with four goals and added two assists for a career-best six points, in addition to a career-high six ground balls.

Sophomore goalkeeper Trudie Grattan saved nine of 13 shots for a .692 save percentage.

How It Happened
Stanford trailed 2-1 before Gjertsen's first tally of the game tied it at 2-2 with 11:33 left in the half.  

The Cardinal scored five straight to end the half and led Arizona State (3-5, 1-3) by four at the break, 6-2. 

Stanford's defense stifled the Sun Devils in the second half as well. The Cardinal scored six of the first seven goals and led 12-3 when Gjertsen scored with 7:40 remaining. 

Senior Monika Sivilli added her second of the season to start a running clock with 3:20 to play, and freshman Mackenzie Chapman capped the scoring with her first career goal at the 1:05 mark. 

Numbers
Stanford outshot Arizona State, 44-23, held a 31-14 advantage in ground balls and won 13 of 21 draw controls. Stanford forced 18 turnovers as three different Cardinal had multiple caused turnovers. 

Senior Genesis Lucero, who is third all-time at Stanford with 154 draw controls, scooped up four of those on Saturday. She also had a goal, assist, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. 

Baiocco added five points (three goals and two assists) and two ground balls, while McMahon had three points (two goals, one assist), two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Gjertsen has scored four goals in three of her last four games.

Last season, Massaro set the Stanford single-season draw controls record (87) in the season finale at Cal Memorial Stadium with a Stanford single-game record of 11 draw controls.
