SAN DIEGO – UCLA's track and field team capped its weekend at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday, with Alyssa Wilson's weekend sweep of the throws highlighting the Bruins' individual performances.

The women's discus competition saw Wilson post career-best throws on three consecutive attempts to win the event with a final mark of 56.58m (185-07). The sophomore's dominance in San Diego continued with a victory in the shot put, throwing 16.12m (52-10.75) for the win. Wilson's pair of victories came just a day after breaking the UCLA school record in the hammer throw with a launch of 68.11m (223-05).

The men's shot put was all UCLA, as sophomore Nate Esparza and freshman Otito Ogbonnia went 1-2 in the event. Esparza threw 19.05m (62-06.00) on his third attempt for the win, while Ogbonnia's heave of 18.27m (59-11.25) was good for an outdoor personal-best and the runner-up position.

Sophomore Kyle Brown led the way for the Bruins in the men's pole vault, finishing tied for third with a clearance of 4.97m (16-03.50). The mark smashed Brown's previous lifetime-best mark of 4.71m (15-05.50). Senior Michael Fancey and sophomore Tate Curran both cleared 4.82m (15-09.75), good for ties for sixth and eighth place, respectively, on attempts.

The women's competition saw senior Elleyse Garrett tie for third with a clearance of 4.12m (13-06.25).

In the men's javelin competition, senior AK Turner took 10th place with a throw of 58.00m (190-03).

The Bruins will return home for the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival (Mar. 29) and Jim Bush Legends Invitational (Mar. 30). Both meets will be held at Drake Stadium at UCLA.
