Beavers Drop Series Finale to No. 11 Arizona

March 24, 2019 | Softball

CORVALLIS – Mariah Mazon struck out seven batters against Arizona, but the Beavers still fell to the No. 11/10 Wildcats, 4-0.

Mazon started strong with back-to-back strike outs in the top of the first inning. She struck out another one in the top of the second.

Arizona, however, added one run in both the first and second innings and two more runs in the third.

Oregon State held off Arizona's attempt to put any more runs on the board for remainder of the game highlighted by Shelby Weeks chasing a fly ball to the left-center fence to eliminate a potential two runs score and Kayleen Shafer catching a pop-up at the plate.

Mazon finished with seven strike outs but falls to 9-6 on the season.

Oregon State falls to 17-10 overall and 1-5 in Pac-12 Conference action.
